LANCASHIRE COTTON STRIKE ENDS

The cotton spinners voted 20,252 in favour of and 13,553 against a cessation of the strike, and the cardroom workers 28,148 for and 14,. 850 against. The mills will reopen on Monday with the wages 14 per cent, lower. The stoppage became practically complete in the Lancashire spinning industry on Tuesday, when the only mills working were the few at which the employers were continuing to give the wages in force prior to the agreement which the workers refused to ratify. The Ministry of Labour conciliation officer (Mr Leggett) early in the week hurried to Manchester, but was powerless until the spinning amalgamation balloted.
