GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP TO A. J. SHAW

Press Association —Copyright Wellington, Nov. 5. —The New Zealand open g'olf championship was won by A. J. Shaw, professional, whose third and fourth rounds of 72 and 71 today brought bis aggregate to 259, five better than A. D. S. Duncans. The third man was the professional Douglas with 208. Shaw was lucky in being out early in the afternoon, (lie rain holding off till he reached the 16th, when it commenced to fall heavily. Shaw made the most of his opportunity. He was out in 33 with great golf, his card being: 43253445 3. For a, time it seemed certain lie would break 70. The. rain unsettled him and he slipped mitts on the last two greens, taking fives and finishing 71 to aggregate 259 and be the open champion for the third successive occasion. A. D. S. Duncan kept, up steady form with bad weather practically all the way. He handed in 74, which was good enough to give him an aggregate of 204 to be runner-up.
