To-day, 8.40 a.m. OTTAWA, Thursday A DISTINGUISHED gallery looked down on a memorable scene in the House of Commons, when Lord Bessborough, a tall civilian figure, entered the Chamber to open the Conference. The Australians were placed on the right of the Speaker’s chair below the Canadians. Right Hon. S. M. Bruce had Mr. Guillett cn one side and Mr. V/eir, a Canadian, on the other. The New Zealanders were placed on the left next to the British delegates. Right Hon. J. G. Coates sat next to Mr. Gilmour, Hon. W. Downie Stewart next to Mr. O’Kelly, who was the cynosure of all eyes, when he rose with the others when the Conference passed a resolution of loyalty to the Throne.
