THE TARANAKI BOARD

At the meeting of the Taranaki Education Board yesterday the following resignations of teachers were received: Miss A. C. I. Westrup, head teacher, Frankley, as from June 30; Mr. IT. L. Takle, head teacher, Matiere, as from September 4; Mr. C. B. Lopdell, sole teacher, Korito, as from July 31; Mrs. E. T. R. Clements, assistant, Mangatoki, as from June 30; Miss B. M. Nicholson, June 21; Mrs. C J. Smillie, Jun e 17.

The teachers' selection committee reported the following appointments, which were confirmed: Mr .Richard J. Thomas, sole teacher, Frankley; Mr. C. J. O'Dea, sole teacher, Kohuratahi; Miss C. M. Robertson, infant mistress, Central. The following transfers will be effected: Miss Simmons, fiicm Huinga to Waiongona; Mr. Anderson, from Mangamingi to Huinga; Mr. Simpson, from York to Mangamingi; Mi' Hawkes, from Tahora to Cardiff; Miss C. Lewis, fit.in Croydon to Korito. After consultation with the actingsenior inspector the following an pointments will be given effect: Mangatoi, sole teacher, Mr. W. 0. Johnston; Otaraoa, sole teacher, Mr. Garth A. Button; Radnicr, sole teacher, Mr. John Watson; Pukeho, sole teacher, Miss Linda G. Wooldridge; Mangatolci, assistant mistress, Miss Mabel I. Bowden; Lower Mangorei, assistant mistress. Miss Dorothy J. W\ Matheson; Tariki, assistant mistress, Miss Jean G. Lrgan; Waitara. assist. ant mistress, Miss Elsa A. Griffin. The Stanley Road Committee wrote pointing out an apparent anomaly in that although the average attendance for a grade 3a school might have fallen by only one or two beljcw the number required for two teachers, yet the one teacher in the grade 2 school was lower in grade than the head teachei of the grade 3a.
