Mr. D; W. Coleman, Labour candi- - date, declared that if the Labour Party ■was returned it would immediately restart the Napier-Gisborne railway. At a meeting the United Party executive resolved that, having endeavoured by all means to prevent a triangular contest, and considering that no official Coalition candidates had been -' nominated* the party would support '.the* candidature of tCe sitting member, n&MVW.
