In the Supreme Court, Thomas Samuel West, a bootmaker, of Cheviot, who had pleaded guilty to the theft of £44 from the Cheviot Trotting Club, of which he was secretary, forging a bank certificate and stealing £25 from the Domain Board, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment.
