FINANCIAL SUCCESS OF ANNUAL BALL

A meeting of the committee of the Stratford Football Club last night was j attended by Messrs. 0. Massey (chair- [ man), C. J. Lamplough, F. Bowler, L. J. Purrie, W. J. Aitken, W. D. Young, F. Nolan (secretary) and members of the Ball Committee. The Ball Committee reported that the net profit from the annual ball was £34 Is !>d. The chairman said the balancesheet was very satisfactory. The profit, from last year's was £2B. Mr. R. Fryday, as representing the ball committee, said the' ladies deserved special thanks for their work in connection with the ball. He mentioned specially Mrs. E. H. Young and her many assistants for carrying out the decorative scheme so well and Mrs. W. H. H. Young for the excellent supper arrangements. In the case of a ball, said Mr. Fryday, the work of the men on the committee was quite negligible compared with that of the ladies. He also specially thanked the members of the team who rendered invaluable work on the night before the ball. Mr. Purrie, in seconding the motion of thanks, said the club was also much indebted to Mr. Massey. "A letter should be sent to the ladies mentioned, thanking them for their work," added Mr. Furrie. "It was my first football club ball, and I never previously realised the great amount of work done by the ladies." The motion was carried unanimously. Mr. Fryday said he had assisted to collect supper, and he was surprised to see so many people interested enough in the club to donate supper, although they had no sons playing the game. Mr. Young considered the club was fortunate in having so many enthusiastic members, who worked splendidly.

The Chairman: The financial result is very good, considering the high standard of the ball. The accounts in connection with the ball were passed for payment.
