STRONG PROTEST

AGAINST SUBSIDY REDUCTIONS “That a strong protest be made against any reduction in either capital or maintenance subsidies to hospital board#, in view of the strenuous times through which the boards are passing with unemployment relief, economic conditions of ratepayers, especially farmers, and falling off in receipts on account of patients' fees; that members for the district, Messrs. W. J. Poison (Stratford) and C. A. Wilkinson (Egmont) be urged to vote against any reduction of subsidies to hospital boards, and that copies of this resolution be sent to the Taranaki and Hawera Boards.”

Rutherfurd be set up to revise the estimates, with the view of reducing the levy on contributing bodies i£ possible. The chairman’s action was approved in authorisiag the secretary to guarantee the fees for 10 days in the New Plymouth Hospital of a lady patient suffering from advanced.
