At Lahore XVie High Court rejected the appeal of, Chagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdevt, against the sentence of death in connection with the murder oil Mr. CurVas, police officer at Lahore, last "year. The men are likely to be executed to-morrow morning. Failure, of the efforts to obtain commutation of the sentence created a tense feeling in Congress circles through/but India and the Bombay Provincial Congress Committee passed a resolution urging the forthcoming Congress session at Karachi to restart the civil disobedience campaign if the men are executed. Gandhi has asked that all Congress at Karachi cease if the men are executed, and there is a that the session will be abandoned. There was considerable unregt at Lahore in the afternoon when the, appeals were rejected, and all Shops; were closed as a protest.
