BUTTER SHOWS CHANGE MEAT ON IMPROVE The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week: Tallow.—There is a fair demand. Current quotations: Good mutton, 23s a cwt; good beef, 22s lid to 23s a cwt; good mixed, 22s Qd a cwt; gut, 16s to 19s a cwt.
Butter. —Weak; 117 s to lib's a cwt Cheese. —Weak. White, 56s a cwt.; coloured, 57s to 58s a cwt.
Frozen Meat. —There is a steady trade in wether mutton at: rather better values. Smaller supplies of ewes have caused prices to harden. The market is firmer for second quality lambs; first grade remain steady. There is a better inquiry and the outlook is brighter. The market is short of supplies of beef and prices are nominal. Quotations: Wethers, light, 3Jd to 41d a lb; heavy, 3d to 3.\d; ewes, 2Jd |o lambs, 2's, 6d to 6 5-8 d; B's, «d to « 5-8 d; 4's, 6d to 6 5-8 d; seconds, 5?,d to s:|d; ox hinds, 3 J ,d to 3Jd; ox fores, 2U\ to 2i,'d; cow hinds, 3d to 'A\A; cow fores, 2*d to 2id.
