AFRICAN RAILWAYS STRIKE THREATENED DEPUTATION ARRANGED ULTIMATUM TO MINISTER Press Association. —Copyright. (Reed. 9.40 a.m.) CAPETOWN, March 17. In anticipation of the enforcement of salary cuts, railway artisans on April 1 will make a joint deputation with artisan trade unionists coming from Johannesburg to present an ultimatum to the Minister, to withdraw the cuts, otherwise they will go slow or a strike will begin immediately. They declare recent months indicate an improvement in railway revenue. The Minister hinted cuts will be limited probably to the half-year. If tlie deputation fails the men will develop a dispute leading to the appointment of a Judicial Commission.
