GRUESOME TRAGEDY

A FAMILY WIPED OUT. SYDNEY, March 16. A terrible tragedy was discovered on a small dairy farm near Denman, where a husband, wife and four children, the eldest aged eight, were found dead in the house, which was in flames. The bodies were almost unrecognisable when they were found.

The father, John Marriott, was lying inside the back door with a doublebarrelled shotgun alongside him. He had been shot through the head, but it is believed that the mother and four children met their death by other means, as bloodstains were discovered about the house. Marriott lately had been worried over his wife's health.
