DEATH OF MR HARTSHORN PELT THE STRAIN OF OFFICE RUGBY, March 14. Mr Vernon Hartshorn, Lord Privy Real, died suddenly at his home in South Wales to-day. As Lord Privy Seal Mr Hartshorn was entrusted with the task of co ord inating the Government measures in connection with unemployment and during recent weeks ho felt the strain of the heavy work that this entailed. Mr Hartshorn was 58 years old. He played an important part in the building of the Labour Party and Parliament in 1918 on the formation of the first Labour Government. In 1924 ho was appointed Postmaster-General. When the present Government was formed Mr Hartshorn was a member of the Pinion Commission on India. MR SNOWDEN’S CONDITION RUGBY, March 14. A bulletin issued to day stated that Mr Philip SnoAvden had a restless night, due no doubt to the severity of the examination he had undergone. He, however, is free from pain and is disposed to sleep now. His general condition is good. The condition of Lord Stamfordham, private secretary to the King, is a little more satisfactory but his progress must of necessity be slcav. He passed a fair night.
