CLARA BOW’S BILLS FOR LIQUOR, JEWELLERY AND POKER Miss Daisy Devoe, ex-secretary of Miss Clara Bow, the film star, who is charged at Los Angeles with having misappropriated £6,000 in cash and property belonging her employer, said recently that due of her duties was to pay Miss Bow’s liquor bills. She used to go to the door when various men arrived and tell them she was at home or not at home, according to Miss Bow’s wishes, says Reuter. “Did you ever have occasion to pay Miss Bow’s poker debts?” counsel asked. “Yes, lots of times,” Miss Devoe answered. “We used to play poker nearly every night.’ “I bought, a star sapTmire ring for Lot bar Mendez; I bought an engagement ring for Miss Bow for £2,000; and 1 bought a ring for Harry Richman for £400,” narrated Miss Devoe.
