Miss M. Bdrtoester has retuitied from a business trip to Auckland. \ Mr. T. A. yAUtig, late of the staff of the Hawera railway station, has joined Ole staff pf tile Eltham station. Mr. and Mrs. T. Kirkwood returned to Stratford last night after a holiday spent at the Marlborough Sounds. Mr. and Mrs. J. Petrie, sen., left Stratford by car early this morning for Wellington on a trip to the Homeland. Mr. J. V. Wilson, of the secretariat staff of the League of Nations, Geneva, who is visiting New Zealand on furlough, is at present in Rotorua. Lieutenant R. S. Judson, V.C., D.C.M., M.M., N.Z.S.C., adjutant to the First Battalion Taranaki Regiment and area officer of No. 8a defence area, has received advice of his transfer to Auckland as area officer of the No. la area. The retirement of Mr. W. Waddel, C.8.E., superintendent of the State Advances Office, was announced yesterday by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes. Mr. Waddel requested that he be allowed to retire at the end of this month, and the Government has agreed to this. His successor has not been announced.
