SHOCK FOR BRIDAL PARTY

CRY OF "GIVE BACK MY SON.' A bridal procession was leaving the front door of one of the fashionable West End churches in Berlin lecently; Fraulein von Gontard, the bride, was clinging happily to the arm of her wealthy bridegroom, Herr Schlober, an industrial magnate. Suddenly a white-haired old woman rushed up to the father of the bride, shouting: "Give me back my ton, Herr von Gontard. You are responsible for his sentence to 16 years' hard labour. Tell the truth at last." The father of the bride looked almost petrified, but nobody dared to intervene. It turned out that the old woman was the mother of a young employee of Von Gontard named Bullergahn, who was sentenced some years ago to 15 years' hard labour for treason by the High Court of Leipzig. Bullergahn was an employee in the Berlin factory, managed by Von Gontard, which produced secretly large quantities of arms. Some time after the Inter-Allied Military Comnfssion paid a surprise visit to the factory and discovered the stocks of arms. He was then arrested. The charge was mainly based on the evidence given by Herr bon Gontard.
