FUTURE UNCERTAIN
VETERAN PARLIAMENTARIAN AUCKLAND, March 5. An impression that he will not be appointed to the Legislative Council has been formed by Sir Frederic Lang, of Auckland. His seven years' term of office expired oh February 22, and he has received no notification of the Government's intentions concerning himself. "I feel perfectly certain that I shall not be reappointed," said Sir Frederic. "If a member whose term is. expired is to be reappointed the practice is to write him a letter stating that if he is so inclined the appointment will be renewed. On the other hand, if a member is to be dropped when his time is up the usual practice is to take no further notice. As I have received no communication from the Government I assume that I am not to be reappointed."
