WOMAN'S NAME SUPPRESSED WANGANUI, March 5. Charged with the theft of £ls, a young married woman appeared in the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning. Detective Walsh said the case was an unusual one and asked for suppression of accused's name. The magistrate remarked that it was very unusual "for the police to make such a request, but granted it. Evidence was given that the woman had three children and when in an institution had stolen £5 from a room-mate, and at another time had taken £lO from a handbag. The money had been spent on the children and necessities. It was not suggested that it was a case for prison. The woman was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within six months if called upon, and the money was to be refunded.
