Immediately the Federal Parliament reassembles, the Senate will disallow regulations under the Transport Act whereby unionists are given preference on the waterfront. (Reed. 10.20 a.m.). ADELAIDE, This Day. Preference to members of the Watersiders’ Federation operated at Port Adelaide yesterday, the employment of volunteers being restricted. Ex-soldiers are eligible for continuous work. (Reed. 10.20 a.m.). LONDON, Feb. 20. Referring to Australian preference for unionist watersiders, the shipowners regret the High Court’s deci-. sion but say they must obey the law. They feel the Government’s attitude will still further damage Australian external credit. Shipowners are greatly perturbed. They regard volunteers as a safeguard. There has been peace since they were employed. (Reed. 11 a.m.). ' BRISBANE, This Day. The waterside preference to unionists began yesterday morning. There is a likelihood of about 700 volunteers being affected.
