SWIMMING

i; STJRATFORI) CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. Mr T. Kirkwood was in the chair at last night's annual meeting of the Stratford 'Old Pupils’ Amateur! Swimming Club. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chaiiman said that the two carnivals held last year were exceptionally good. A sum of £9 15s had been spent on altering the seating accommodation, but this was an important and permanent improvement. Generally, he that swimming had received a decided fillip owing t 0 the activities of the club. The club was very fortunate in having its carnivals very W'ell patronised by swimmers, divers and polo teams from other Taranaki clubs, and their officials were a good lot and were always on hand to do their duty. The coming season promised to be an excel • tionaUy good .one. He had heard of the arrival in Taranaki of several new crackerpack swimmers, and no doubt they would compete at the club’s next carnival. Seconding, Mr F. Bowler said that allowing for the expenditure on the seating, the seasoii must be regarded as quite successful. The revenue from subscriptions was not what it should be. , Mr V. J. Henderson said that the decrease in the revenue from subscriptions accounted for the loss oh the past year. He would like to see more revenue from honorary mem’bers’ subscriptions. If each member of the committee brought in two honorary members it would mean a substantial increase of revenue. The report and balance-sheet were adopted.
