"Drowned" Man Turns Up.

STRANGE SEQUEL TO SUPPOSED SUICIDE. BLENHEIM, This Day. There was an extraordinary sequel to a supposed drowning tragedy yesterday at 10 o'clock tins morning, the supposedly drowned man rang up Police Sergeant Petersen from Tuamarina. He i g now in the lock-up little the worse for his experience, except for had bruises and a fe wminor cuts. Apparently after he had been in the water for half an hour or so a huge wave washed him, up on the beach which wa s then in darkness. He wandered about for some time and after begging food at a. house 'where nothing was known of the supposed tragedy, he his| wanderings. until he reached Taumarina as stated. The man in question r s Henry Francis Parrish, a retired railway servant. He appeared very distressed yesterday and a friend named Mm V. Chapman took liim for a drive to White's Bay. On the return journey Parrish stated he felt unwell and asked Mrs. Chapman to stop the car. He got out and said lie would do away with himself, and started off towards the sea about half a mile away. Mrs. Chapman ran after him, hung on to him and endeavoured to dissuade him from his purpose. He threw her off and rushed into the breakers and disappeared.
