Action on the Australian or New Zealand treaties will not be taken by Hr Bennett, the Premier-elect, for some mouths as the whole matter of tariff revision and the new budget are to await Mr Bennett’s return from the Imperial Conference. To meet the situation of the unpassed Liberal Budget with some tariff changes already effective, and others pending, Mr Bennett will retain the Ministry of Finance himself until after the conference. It is not considered likely that he will carry out in entirety bis campaign views that both treaties should be abrogated in favour of building up Canadian industry by the imposition of high tariffs.
