OPERATIONS IN ROSS SEA. QUESTION IN UPPER HOUSE:--WELLINGTON, July 30, When the Legislative, Council met at 2.30 p.m. to-day, Sir James Allen asked the Deputy-Leader whether the Government was aware of any fishing for whales in the Ross Sea without a license, and if so would the 'Government indicate the name of the ship and nationality. Mr R. Masters replied that the Government was aware of unlicensed floating factories operating. They were both Norwegian, the names being the Neilson Alonso and the Kosmos. The Rent Restriction Continuance Bill was received from tho House and read a first time.

At 2.40 p.m. the Council adjourned until 2.30 p.m. to-morrow.
