MATAROA DOG TRIALS

KEEN COMPETITION SHOWN, TAIHAPE, April 17. Splendid entries and keen competition were features of the Mataroa dog trials, which concluded to-day. The work of the dogs was of a high standard and the judge was favourably impressed. Results are as follows: Class one, head, pull and drive: J. Goodwin’s “Nell” 68 points 1; H. Harris’ “Kep” 654, 2; F. England’s “Toss” 63, 3; J. McHardy’a “Jack’’ 60. 4. Gloss Two, huntaway: R. Staple’s “Jock” 404 joints, 1; Miss Long’s “Bandy” 40, 2; G. West’s “Lark” 39* 3; C. Dobbs' “March” 37*, 4. Class Four (open only to competitors under 18); Huntaway: Mrs E. Coogan’s “Don” 23 points, 1; Miss N. Cottrell’s “Top”, 21 2; D. Cleaver's “Clyde” 13.3. Gold medal presented by E. Coogan for competition under 20 scoring most points in Oue, S. Steedman. Class Three, for all round dog, first prize gold cup valued at 10 Oguincas: Miss Long’s “Sandy” 54 * points, 1; J. McHardy’s entry, 54 points, 2; F. Malpas’, 50 points, 3; G. Webb’s, “Lurk” 48 points, 4.
