AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

stuatfobd brakch. Mr J. S. Lyons was in the chain at last night’s meeting of the committee of the South Taranaki Automobile Association. The chairman reported that the supervised parking system vas working satisfactorily and was being well supported. The following new members were elected; Mrs E. T. Leydon, Messrs D. Carman and Co. and Mr W. -A. Gower (Eltham).

It was decided to erect a bad bend sign at a point near the bridge at Messrs Winskill and Green’s property at Strathmore.

Complaint wa s made of the speed of cars from the south in descending the Ngaere hill, past the railway station, when traffic was busy with milk carts coming from the dairy factory. There are notices! limiting the speed at the point, but these are disregarded. It was decided, in order to minimise the risk of accident, to put a sign at the top of the hill, warning motorists about traffic coming from the left. Representations are to be made to the parent body regarding complaints that the signing on entering and leaving Hawera is not sufficient. One motorist reported that,

owing to lack of signs, he found himself in Manaia instead of Stratford. Direction signs are to be erected on the following roads in Whangamomcoa County: Mangere, Prospect, Marco, Mangaowata, Tahora, Moki, Mangapapa, Vera Kohuratahi, Whitianga. Four bad bend signs

are also to be erected in the County.

The secretary reported that four signs had been erected showing the way to Inglewood, Stratford via Kiore, Uruti and Matau South.
