EMPLOYMENT OF WORKERS ON CROUP SYSTEM
UNANIMITY !N THE HOUSE. / WELLINGTON, October 4. The debate on tliQ Laud Laws Amendment Bill was continued in the House of Representatives in tho early limits of tin’s morning. Mr Coates advocated the employment of farm workers oil! the group system to settle lam! wita the assistance of the 'Government. He stated that the Bill did hot say what was to bd the manner in which loans should he repaid, but lie suggested that the annual payments should be light at the outset, and be increased as set-, tiers got on their feet. H e considered that the B;'d bad little new in it and b e wished the Minister good rack with it. He wohld! do all ho could to assist Mr Forbes. Mr H. E. Holland said , there seemed to' ho unanimity in support of the Bill ami *'o could not understand why it was being held up. He! agreed that there was little now in it. He thought the Government should go right ahead and employ men to work and prepare land:. He could not see the reason for the repeated references to the need for investigation. If the Lands Hepartment uul not have adequate m- ' formation as to the possibilities or ' land it would seem, that that Hepari- : me.it bad not been doing its work ’ The Hon. G. W.
