INGLEWOOD CLUB SOCIAL. To wind up the season and to . mark the winning of the Taranaki first junior championship, the Inglewopdi Football Club held a social. last night. Last season was the first occasion in twenty-mine years that the Inglewood Club has w on a championship. During the evening a cup was i presented to the seven-a-side team for being runners-up at the Kaponga tournament, an.d medals were given to the ten who comprised the team that was runner-up for the Dewar Shield. i ! Mr E. H. Young, a member of the Taranaki Rugby Union, presented the first junior championship trophy. He apologised for + he absence of Messrs R, Masters (president), and J. McLeod (chairman of the managemoot committee), who were unable to he present. .Mr Young ’ said that he felt that football had revived somewhat this year. Al- ! though in the past the club had not Avon the competition ,they were recognised as sports; they had always fulfilled their engagements and put up a great fight. They had had many lean year 3 and he felt that every team in, Taranaki would j he pleased to see the improvement. He was pleased that the junior team had woq the competition and he 'thought it a, most meritorious win. On behalf of the Taranaki Rugby Union he had much pleasure in ; calling on the captain to receive the trophies. The shield was presented by the Taranaki Rugby Union and the silver football was for competition in the central division.

In the course of his remarks Mr Young said they thought the Inglewood thirds had not had as good 1 a. run, as they might have had, and they, were haying a meeting to try tfpd place things on a better basis.
