DEPARTMENTAL MOVE LECTURE BY MR DEEM PAHIATUA, Oct. 2. Mr J. W. Deem, director of the fields division, Department of Agriculture, (Palmerston North, in a lecture here, said the Department was adopting a farms’ roll. A survey was made of a largo number of farms, and the best were picked out of each district. The methods were published in the Department’s “Journal.” The Department had already found a farm in the Paliiatua district that was amongst the first three in New Zealand. He stressed the fact that pounds of butterfat per acre was always an, important factor with the Department.
