FOURSOME CHAMPIONSiIII'MELBOURNE, August 9. The golf foursome • championship contested at Hie; Commonwealth links over 38 Holes to-day was won by A. Fowler rind Iv. Withers with a first round score of 78 and a total of 157. Morpeth and Horton scored 80 in the first round, a total of 163, Ross and Black' 89, total 177. The Kirk Windeyer Cup contest will commence to-morrow at the Metropolitan links. The Victorian team is considered formidable. It comprises A. Russell, A. p. Blute andtM. Ryan. Unfortunately Whitton is ill. . The Australian newspapers applaud Morpeth's victory in the Victorian championship and his sportsmanship especially in leaving the cup attached to the championship at the Commonwealth links. .
