POLICE INQUIRE INTO EXPLOSION IN CREEK
WINDOWS SHAKEN OVER BiQ AREA ALLEGED THREAT TO BLOW UP CULVERT. HAMILTON, Tins Day. The. polioo are' inquiring into, the heavy explosion which occurred in a creek at Tauwhare near Cauibndge, on the Morrinsville Eoad on Thursday night. The explosion shook the windows of houses at a considerable distance and it is believed that several sticks of gelignite' were used. There has recently been dissension regarding the Drainage Board's decision to construct a second culvert across Ihe. road. One settlor fearing this would increase a flow of water on his land is reported to have threatened to blow up the culvert which was completed on Wednesday. The explosion occurred a few chains downstream from, the culvert.
