WHANGA SUBUNION. TRIAL MATCH NORTH V. SOUTH TANGARAKAU, This Day. (Special to “Post”. This match was played at Whangaiinomona on Saturday, and proved an excitingly interesting game. The play of tlie backs of both sides was rather poor, the handling being very bad, hut; the following up ana tackling was above the average. The hall was kept clown and loose rushes were the order of the day, the play going quickly from, one goal line hack to the other, with the result in doubt until the final whistle. The North forwards were superior particularly in the loose, and the first score came from one of these rashes, when U. Robinson got across. Collins converted, and! soon alter, from a penalty kick, Collins landed a beauty, the ball striking the bar, and then across. North 8, South nil. 9 For a while North find it all their own way, and kept threatening the Southern goal, hut them a change took place, and a penalty to South was successful. "With seven minutes to go, from a great forward rash, South obtained a try, and as it was in a handy position, if began to look like a draw - , hut (Julian missed the goal, and! tha (Tame ended in semi-darkness with North the winners by 8 to 6- For the winners Cooper and Collins were easily the best, and! Opai, Mblloy and Robinson in the forwards. For the losers Conltno, Yandle, Monatt and Nnhan, were the pick of the backs, and Hight and West in. the forwards. Mr G. Murphy was referee, and gave general satisfaction, ’ although the combination, of colours must have made it very difficult. After the match the selectors announced the following teams for next Saturday’s final trial match, Probables v. Possibles at Whangamomona. PROBABLES. FALWASSER REJOINS MANAKAU AUCKLAND, Last night. Falwasser, ex-Taranaki and Maori All Black Rugby player, who has refused an offer from England to play the League game, has rejoined the Manakau Rugby side. SCHOOL RUGBY

The Rugby competition in South Taranaki primary schools has nowbeen completed. In the senior competition Okaiawa were the winners in the Manaia district and Eltham in the StratfordHawera district. The final game was played at Hawera last Friday afternoon, and after a hard tussle the decision went to Okaiawa. by 3 points to nil. 1 In the junior competition the winners in the districts were Hawera district, Turutnrii; Western district, Pihama; Eltham district, Eltham Public; Stratford district, Stratford Convent. In one semi-final Stratford Convent beat Eltham Public. The other semifinal and the final are, still to play.
