CHANGE IN PARTY MACHINERY. MOVE FOR FRJEpOM. LONDON, June 2,6. Now that Labour, hojs| 'office ' the Ministers feel it is necessary for a change in .the party machinery. Hitherto the Labour policy in Parliament has been (decided, by, an .executive consisting of "members of the House of Qpmmqns elected by ba}}pt. The .Government expresses ijhe opinion that as the" responsibility , rests with Cabinet; the executive should disappear and be replaced by a cpnsultatiye committee .jietween which and the C'abinej;,,|Hvp or three Ministers should be as liaison. ,It is'f.understod. this''will bV the chief business .of .the first meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party, whicb will'be heljd, pn Thursday. , "*\ It is proposed in future; to discontinue the weekly meetings of the party and summon ,thp L a bpiir members of t)ie House of Commons "only when thp occasion arises. The change ,is essentiajly a move for freedom,, a<nd it remains to be seen how the "left wingers" will take the proposals They believe strongly in party dictatorship over the Ministers.
