ADDITIONAL HIGHWAYS.

Under the Main Highways Act the Board is required to make an annual review of highways.
Some months ago the District Highways' Council were requested to arrange for the usual review and consider any cases where by alteration of : circumstances the route !of any main highway should be { changed or adjustments should be I made to meet any altered condition. J A number of such cases were considered by. the District Highways ! Councils and in addition the Dis-. Highways Councils recommend- ; ed over 200 miles additional roads 'for declaration as main highways. I The Main "Board reports that it is not in a position to declare additional mileage as much as this, which , is equivalent to about 60 per cent. [of the total secondary highways declared by the Board in 1928.
