ENGINEER'S REPORT.

The Engineer (Mr. J. W. Spenco) reported, as follows at Saturday's meeting of the Stratford County

Council: —

North Riding.—The filling on the Rutland Road near the railway crossing has been widened, over the old wooden, eulvert which was recently replaced by a tunnel. Bitumen patching and, cl,ay banking have been carried out on the Mountain Road. The blackberries on the reserve on the Finnerty Road have been cut. Further quantities of shingle have been crushed at the Cornwall Road depot for blinding the Hastings and Robson Roads. East Riding (Toko and Douglas.)— Loose metal on the Toko No. 1 Road, has been raked off, 119 yards ci pit shingle being used in blinding the metal. The loose metal on the Standish- itoad has been raked off. The grader has been run over the sides of the Ohura and Gordon Roads. On the latter road loose stones have been gathered up, the culverts clean-

ed and the fern cut. The culverts on the Strathniore Saddle have been at-

tended to, and fern and scrub on

this length have been cleared away

East Riding (Huiroa). —Portions ot the Makuri Road havo been blinded with pit shingle. The surface of the Mohakau Road *lTs been crowned up and. the water tables cleaned out.

West Riding.—A considerable amount, of clay blinding has been done on the metalled surfaces of the Ronald, Poto, Waingongoro, Cardiff Has-

tings, Cliinie, Brookes, Brecon, and Hastings Roads. Bitumen surfaces m the Opunake No. 1 and Cardiff Roads have' been re-blinded. The redecking of the Waingongoro Stream bridge
