Votes of thanks were passed to the outgoing president (Mr. W. "Jnderson), to the secretary (Mr. V. JHenderson), who was voted an honorarium of. £2 2s, and to the outgoing representative on tlio Rugby Union (Mr. L. J. Furrie). i RUGBY UNION. TTIe representative on the Rugby Union was instructed to strongly oppose the motion to come before the annual meeting of the Rugby Union that the voting powers of school representatives he confined to matters concerning school football. ' The chairman, (Mr. Train), said there was a feeling in certain quarters that Mr. L. J. Furrie, the representative on the Rugby Union of the schools' union, had exceeded his duty. The powers of the school representative on the ltugby Union had never been defined, and the motion before the Rugby Union looked like an attempt to "put the gag on the school representative." Mr. Furrie. said no definite accusation had been made, to which he could reply. The chairman: I have heard only generalities.

SOMETHING BEHIND IT. Mr. Furrie said, he was rather surprised tluit his actions had caused comment, but ho knew; perhaps what was behind it all, On occasions ho had ottered not to vote, but the. chair" .man of the itugby Union toid him that everybody on the committee was expected to'.vote.. Mr. Furrie concluded by saying ' that he should have definite jUistanc" es of having overstepped the mark. The chairman said objection was' taken to i\lr. Furrie speaking on motions which did not concern the schools. .Mr. 1?. Thomas: I think a representative should be allowed to use hi 3 cominonsense in such matters. Mr. Train: 1 had this business on my mind and I wanted to get it oh'. That is why X have spoken. .Mr. Furrie said he did not wish t,o cany on as Rugby Union representative, and nominated Mr. Gr. Percy, Fltbam. for. the position. He Raid ho was sorry the matter had been brought up, as on many occasions ho had refrained from voting on matters which did not concern the schools. He had noticed recently that there was a felling that Strafoi'd was too strongly represented on the Union. Therefore he would prefer- to step aside and let the primary schools representative come from some other i district. \ Mr. Henderson seconded and the, motion was carried.
