Davis as . spokesman, waited on the Council and asked for the raising of a loan of £SO to CIO for work on tho mad.

Mr Davis said the Council had done no work on the road for six years. He asked if the Council would subsidies the loan. The chairman said the council did not usually subsidise loans, but would subsidise a straight-out grant by settlers. Tho matter was fully discussed and it was decided that the Engineer should report, on the road. GENERAL.

Mr P. Keller, district P.AV.D. engineer, wrote asking if the Council 1 intended to claim an authorisation ,ic£ £l4 8s in respect to maintenance of Kota Road. —Left to the Engineer. , G. E. Noble is to be informed that the matters cn which lie wrote to the Council had been finalised. Mr P. Keller, chairman of the district Highways Council, wrote asking for information as to traffic inspectors employed by the Council, this being required by the Board in reference t'o a suggestion that it should pay a proportion of the wages of traffic Knspec|ors. —Information to he supplied.

J. T. Walsh, Waihape Road, wrote asking that notices be served on adjoining owners to clean out 1 the Waihape Stream—Notice to be given as requested.

The Under-Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs forwarded amended Gazette proclamation regarding the boundaries between the Clifton and Stratford Counties. —Received.

Notification was received of the visit of members of t\ie Main Highways Board to Stratford on April 15th. '

Two Toko drainage matters were loft to the Engineer.

The Clerk reported that of £2-1,090 rates struck £22,810 had been collected.
