STRATFORD'S PARK DAY
ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND.
The idea suggested by the Mayor at the last meeting of the Domain Board; of holding annually a garden fete hi the Park in aid of the park funds is one that should appeal to all sections of the community, and) one in which it is felt every organisation in the town will take a keen and active interest. The Committee appointed to consider the question met last night and drew up a programme of events which will be submitted to a special meeting of th,e Board to be held next Friday night, and 'later to a public meeting which is being called for next Monday night. The programme includes tennis, cro. quet and putting competitions swim-
ming sports, archery, shooting ,gal. levy, floral fete, displays by school children, side competitions ’ of all descriptions and numerous other attractions calculated to interest and amuse the general public. The Fire Brigade and the local Band/s will also take part in the proceedings. Practically every club and organisation in the town will be asked to organise and take." charge of events in which they are particularly interested- . In this manner it is hoped to get the whole town interested. A chance is being offered burgesses to get together to make the proposed! event an outstanding success and those responsible have sufficient confidence in the patriotism of our people to predict this will be so., Stratford has a wonderful asset in its beautiful parks, and any attempt made to raise funds for further improvement is bound to receive the support which the object undoubtedly deserves., •••
