MIDHIRST SPORTS CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. At the meeting of the Midhirst Sports Club last night Mr J. Shelter presided over a good attendance of enthusiastic members. The bal-ance-sheet of last year’s meeting was reviewed and found to be £32 Is lid in credit. It was stated the only thing that had caused any trouble was the walking race, in which a competitor had failed to give his former successes and so was (disqualified, the prize money being allotted!., Mr Coleman, whose son had received £2 10s, had kindly offered to donate this lioi a walking prize which would be decided later. The following officers were elected:—
Patron, Mr W. J. Poison, M.P. President, Mr G. P. Darkness. Last year’s vice-presidents, with the addition of Messrs B. Walter and W. Vickers were elected. Mr Shotter was again elected chairman, and Mr Schumwher, treasurer and secretary.
Handicappers, Messrs A. Etchsteadt (chopping), J- M - D. Tempero and R- Phillips (other events). Starters. Messrs J. Ptrie (chopping), D. Tempero 'other events). Referee, A. Eichsteadt (chopping), Mr T Kirkwood (flther events). Judges, Messrs G. P. Harkness. J. ‘Kovaleski and R. Aylward.
Timekeeper, J. Pet'rie. The programme was then revised and it was decided, on the motion of Mr Geo. Anderson, to ad A £l° to the prize money. The matter of the £2 10s donated by Mr Coleman was satisfactory accounted for by putting on a boys’ race and adding to the open walk prize money. During the evening a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mesdames C. Philips and P- Anderson 'for help rendered during the past year.
