HOME GARDEN COMPETITION
AT THE STRATFORD SCHOOL. On Tuesday the home gardencOmpetition held by pupils of the; Stratford primary school was judged by Mr. W. M. Dill Macky. There were eight competitors, and the judge, found the work to bo satisfactory in spite of numerous obstacles. Great keenness was manifested by the competitors, and the competition was popular with parents of pupils as it was found to be in other districts. "It .is anticipated," says Mr. Macky, in the course of his remarks on the work done, "that a much larger numbe.r of entries, will be forthcoming next season, and that teuqbers, Tiaving a better understanding of the requirements, will be able to give more guidance to the pupils. Note-books' were au>» fully taken into account this year, as some of the pupils did not know about) tihem. These should *« encouraged next year.
