CROQUET
THE AVON GLUB. An afternoon was given yesterday j at the Avon lUroquet Oluib's green fur Mrs Tj, M, Bill a member oi tin© club who is shortly leaving Stratford tor Ihinedin. Thirty members were present,,, and a. very pleasant time was spent. . , On behalf of members Mrs R. Masters, president of the club, 'presented Mrs Ball with an amphora bowl and a beaten brass* jar, and spoke of Mrs Ball's assistance to the club as an ©fficiefriti secretary for fthree and as an active playing member. Mrs Ball had 'been one of ihe s&&* I which htid won the, JQbcL'TJbwie Cup at Hawera- last year for the club. ■ Mrs B. O. North nlso spoke, eulogising Mrs Ball's work for the club. Mr s Ball suitably replied, thanking members for their kind remarks and th© gifts which would remind her of happy days spent on the greeß. Occasion was also taken to welcome newly-elected membera <tf ttou club, for whom golf croquet and target shooting competitions were arranged, trophies being donated by Mesdames R. Masters ? jn^ i &• Knight. Mrs O, S. Kelly was tm 4 winner of both competitions.
