TARANAKI PRESBYTERY. ' The Taranaki Presbytery met at Stratford on Tuesday last, the Moderator, the Rev. H. J. Fletcher, presiding over a fair attendance of ministers and elders. v The Presbytery expressed its sympathy with Mr W. B. Browning, of Whangamomona, in the death of hi s wife, and with Mrs Evans, in the loss of her mother. A permanent Plans Committee, •with the clerk of Presbytery as convenor, was set up, and congregations directed to submit all building proposals and relevant documents to that committee prior to the meeting of the Presbytery. Plans for Sunday school buildings at Hawera were approved, and the financial arrangements agreed to. Home mission grants were recommended as follows: Whangamomona £75, Noranby £SO, Opunake £3O, New Plymouth Outfields £75. It was agreed that the Home Mission Committee transfer the Opunake Home Missionary at the conclusion of his term. Correspondence was , received to the Kaponga property, and a committee empowered to arrange Siilo. The recommendations of the Home Mission Committee on ordination of home mifionaries was '.departed from on the general principle that only fully trained candidates should in the ordinary course be? ordained to' the ministry. Assembly remits on Youth Cabinets and Women as Elders were not approved. The Peace Manifesto was agreed to on the striking out of expressions considered too definite on the opposition of the war system to the mind of Christ. A small committee was set up to consider the Book of Order changes. The Presbytery disagreed with the appointing of a Principal to the Theatygieal College, and had ,(no further recommendation to mak e as t 0 the matership of Knox College. The recommendations on Assembly organisation were considered in detail, and strong opposition recorded to ay reduction of representation. At the conclusion of its meeting the Presbytery was entertained "by the Stratford members of the Taranald P.A., and met the delegates 0f that body at afternoon tea.
