GROCERS FOREGATHER
TARANAKI ANNUAL DINNER. A very successful function was held at the Windsor Tea Rooms last nght, when members of the North Taranaki Master Grocers' Association and the South Taranaki Master Grocers' Association and their wives, held their combined annual dinner. There were about seventy present, Including members of the two Associations from almost all parts of the province, and from country districts in addition to the towns. Owing to the inclement weather numerous apologies for absence were received. Mr George Ward, of New Plymouth, president of the New Zealand Master Grocers' Federation, occupied the chair. The toast list was as follows: "The King," proposed by the chairman; "New Zealand Master Grocers' Federation," proposed by Mr Allan ...Veale, responded to by Mr George Ward (president); "North Taranaki Association," proposed by Mr A. R. Masters, responded to by Mr W. B. Harlow (president); "South Taranaki Association," proposed by Mr N. B. Bellringer (secretary North Association), responded to by Mr Jlilm Orr; "The" Ladies," proposed by Mr Yeitch (Hawera, secretary of the South Association), responded to by Mrs McCrae (Hawera); "The Entertainers," proposed by Mr Harlow, responded to by Messrs A. R. Masters and J. Duncan. , ' Vocal items were contributed by a vocal quartette, comprising Misses Massey and Vicker s and Messrs J. Duncan and A. R. Masters. Y°cal solos were given by Misses Massey and Vickers and Messrs Duncan and Allan Veale. Mr Duncan contributed humorous sketches, and Mr Simpkiss (New Plymouth gave a talk on "Busines s Pars." Miss Beryl Masters acted as accompanist for the evening. For a finale, community singing was indulged in, and a very pleasant evening concluded about 11 p.m.
