TABiftERS' PBOBLEMS. ENTOMOLOGICAL CONFERENCE. ' j NEW YORK, August 14. The greatest international entomological conference in the history of that science has opened at Ithaca, "■with an attendance of a 'thousand experts from all parts of th e world. The Australian representatives include Dr. Tillyard, Commonwealth Entomologist, and formerly of the Cawthr.on Institute at Nelson, New Zealand. .. - The most important section of the congress is that of economic entomology dealing with field crop insects, citrus fruit and deciduous fruit insects and insecticides, etc. Dr. Tillyard will give two addresses on insect control of noxious weeds and the evolution of dragon flies. Dr. Howard, of Washington, in his presidential address, stressed the growing importance of entomology in agriculture and the welfare of all civilised peoples.
