REVENUE DISAPPOINTING. VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION DECIDED UPON. AUCKLAND, August 14. A short life and a merry one has been the record of the. Embassy Theatre, formerly the National Three months ago a company styling. itself the Embassy Theatre; Ltd., took a five-year lease of the National Picture Theatre in Queen Street, and became liable to the extent of something in the vicinity of £9OOC* for general improvements. Mr E. R. Greenfield, who was manager of. the Regent Theatre, was engaged a a manager. The company's policy was to conduct vaudeville i'-'jl"-tainments and revues. The revues eventuated, but the revenues did not come up to expectations, and at a meeting yesterday a resolution was carried that the company should go into voluntary liquidation. There will be no vaudeville entertainment this evening, and some of the artist s returned to Sydney by the UlimoroA to-day. All the fares of those brouyht over from Australia ar e . to be paid in order to get them hom e again.

At the time of going to press it i 3 not known what entertainment will be held, but hasty arrangements are being attempted to screen a picture,.in the theatre this evening. It is more than likely that those interested will continue the lease, and goi back to picture entertainments entirely. i 4&
