MYSTERY DISEASES
OUTBREAKS IN LONDON. FOOD AT FAULT. LONDON. Following the mysterious epidemic, of stomach disease in the ranks of the metropolitan police, which w still unsolved; which has resulted in one death and many men being off duty, an extraordinary outbreak has occurred among army officers stationed at Chatham. Fifteen officers, including Captain C. G. Martin, V-C, have been taken to hospital after attending a dance. They are suffering from acute throat trd&tte, akin to tonsilitis. Six women, guests were similarly affected. Simultaneously a mild epidemic variously described as enteric fever and paratyphoid, is reported in several districts in the London area. The three outbreaks have certain features in common.
The food/ supplies are being smalysed.
