"STRATFORD EVENING POST" FRIDAY, JULY 13, 1928. THE DISTRICT'S SHOP WINDOW.

ONCE apjiin we have the " pleasant task of congratulating tilie Strat- 1 ford Poultry and Winter Show Association on the excellence of their function. The show has been going since Wednesday, and the liairge numbers of people who visited it on that date and yesterday are all loud in their praises of what has been accomplished. Two years ago considering the restricted space available at the Town Hall a very good effort was made, and this was eclipsed beyond Ml expectations last year. The Committee adopted a slogan that the 1928 show would be bigger, better, and brighter, and the* public were prepared for some advance on last year. However, it is safe to si'iy that few, if any, expected the progress made would be as amazing as has proved to be the case. The present show can be ranked alongside many pretentious functions staged in very much larger centres, and is sure to grow even more as years go on The Committee have shown themselves to be capable managers, and their future efforts must command the support of town and country." For a place situated as-is Stratford in the centre of a large and! favoured province, the scope, of a winter show is almost without limit, and if proper co-operation can be relied upon, there is no doubt thjvt in a f ew years time the function will become" representative of the province, and one of the premier shows of the,, Dominion. One of the reasons Tor, the rapid progress made is that tlio Committee enjoy the confidence of exhibitors, and if that confidence if maintained, further progress must be made. The show is the «*hop window" of the district and 13. Ann* it s share to bring before the public the possibilities of the area of Central Taranaki and also to demonstrate the activities, and industries of the townspeople. There are many verv excellent displays being staged and these are all attracting great interest. Especially good are the root crops which show in no uncertain ntmner, the suitability or the district for the growth of fodder ot this nature. .
