When .the' House of Representatives > rnet at 2.30 this afternoon, Mr J. A." Loe.(Auckland East) gave notice 1 of his intention to introduce the .Compulsory Military Service Repeal Bill.--
Mr W.. E. Parry (Auckland West) asked the Minister of Finance if lie would take steps to compel the banks to reduce their overdraft rates to a figure commensurate with the dividends paid. The Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Downie' Stewart, said that softie time ago he promised when the June figures were available that he would go into the question. Those figures were now available and. were being examined by the banks. He"""would' be able to make a statement, he hoped, in two or three days. Mr J). G. Sullivan (Avon) asked 1 the Commissioner kif State Foists} whether, in view of the fact that tne registration of unemplioyed .workers at Christchurch showed an increase this week, over 60(1 men being now registered, he could say w'hen he would bo in a position to take . on 100 men, the number he had indicated lie could employ on the new forestry site at in Canter-
