With her husband, >vlrs Bett s had been a resident of Stratford for many years, and a wide circle of friends will extend sympathy to Mr Betts and other members cf the family. For a number of years the late Mrs Betts was a member of the Presbyterian choir, and she always took an active 'part in the general work of the, church. For some years past she had not enjoyed good health and for some 'months had been seriously ill. ■ There passed away at the Stratford Hospital at an early hour this morning, at the advanced age of 84, a very old resident of the Dominion in the person of Mi's Rhodes', mother of Mr J. D. Murruyy of Stratford. .'The late Mr s Rhodes arrived in Auckland, together with her first husband,. Mr A. Murray, by the ship Waitangi, in 1873. Mr Murray died in 1.903, ; and in 1007 the deceased lady . married Mr F. Rhodes, who was killed) in a railway accident at Westfield, Auckland, 'about eleven years ago.
