Reference to the unrest in the Waikato Diocese the Sy.nod adopted the Special Committee’s report declaring there is widespread uneasiness regarding the action and policy of the Bishop. The Synod assured the Bishop of the whole-heart-ed support of the Synod and stated that in future it would he desirable for the Bishop to he guided by a standing committee.

It was quite open and candid and fearless in its advice to the Bishop, which was tendered not in a spirit of opposition, hut in the best interests of both the Bishop and the Diocese. After the report was adopted, the Bishop stressed the sincerity of his offer to resign, and expressed his willingness to abide by the spirit of the resolution.
