ARAPUNI LAKE
ANGLERS PERTURBED. RUMOUR OF PLEASURE LAUNCHES. TE AWAMUTU, July 2. Anglers in the Pukeatua and jadjar cent district are concerned .over a rumour that the department responsible for the control of Arapimi Lake intends to issue an exclusive license to some person to provide and operate fishing aud pleasure launches on the lake.
At least two settlers inl the neighbourhood of the lake t>-ke strong exception to the consummation of the proposal, contending that the time is not far distant when Arasjuni Lake will be one of the most popular trout fishing waters in the whoe Dominion, besides being unusually attractive for tourists and sightseers. A monopoly, as suggested, would create a position practically identical with that on the "Wfanganui River, which, it is contended, would not be : in the best interests of the community as a whole. ;
